Sumfight
So just who and what is sumfight? Well sit down little one and you will soon know.
Sumfight Started off as a tee shirt idea for threadless.com, I wanted to make some money so I submitted my shirt idea of two addition problems fighting, now it needed a name, only one thing came to my mind…Sumfight. I didn’t get win but I got a name I would use later in life.
Fast forward to Jan 2006, I found out my digital still camera took decent videos, so I took some video of myself and my friends at the mall. I remembered seeing a crud web video of two young men that I found amusing in December 2005 and e-mailed the site owner asking him what he used to make his video, he said Pinnacle, I said thank you, and then went to work on my first video.
It’s kind of weird that as soon as I typed “first video” that very same song came on…Ok back to it. I finished it, it looked down right horrible, with bad cuts, and made no sense at all…and I loved it. So did all my friends. David(Friend) told me I should upload it to Video Google, so I did, and it got a great response, so I made more music videos.
After a while no one wanted to film anymore, and with my leading friend hurt from a head injury, no vids would come out for quite sometime, Sumfight looked to be dead.
I shot what I thought would be one last video in June 2006, Manic Monday, the response was great, over 50,000 views(though youtube took it down as of Dec 06 for copyright issues) and with my youtube inbox full of mail of people saying thank you for entertaining them, sumfight was born again.
I then in July upgraded to Adobe, and from there the videos just kept rolling out, and a new thing started, Skits.
I followed this same pattern for a while, with different people helping every now and again, but the one person that was always there was David.
Late in the year, I was contacted by many different people in the business, I won a contest hosted by Smosh, and made the paper in Ohio a few times.
In Feb 2007 I bought what I was saving for…for about 8 months, the Canon XL 1. Great upgrade.
I will continue to upgrade this part of the site, but for now I am going to leave it at this.
People I want to thank:
David Holden - I don’t even know what to say about you, your my best friend, we have had great times and bad times…I remember, I remember everything. You know that you are a third of the reason I know what I want to do with my life, I can’t repay you for all that you have done for me, but I won’t forget. The song that you are to me is “Songs That Saved My Life”
Kollin Hardwick, Tony Cebak, and Poodles - You were there for the first few months, though we don’t film together anymore, I just want to say thank you so much for being there at the start. The song that you are to me is “Is Anyone Here Alive?”
Keeshia McDonald - I know you didn’t help film a ton but you helped in other ways. You showed me that if I had a vagina I would be pretty similar to you, well the weirdness anyways. You were true friend when I was having problems in December 2005, and someone I could not get out of my head. Though now as we slip away from one another, I am not as torn as I thought I would be, because I know I can still call you Friend. The song that you are to me is “Scream”
Lori Rapol - Thanks for being amazing. The song that you are to me is “Future Number 1″
Kill Hannah - You’ve gotten me through so much, as much as I want to see you taste fame, I am the selfish one that hates it at the same time, I have been jamming to you for such a long time(6 years or so), I liked being one of the few who knew about you. The song that you are to me is “Welcome To Chicago, MotherFucker”
David Lehre - Thanks for showing me what a kid, a camera, and his friends can do. The song that you are to me is “Believer”
Anthony Padilla - Thanks for saying “Pinnacle”. The song that you are to me is “Get Famous”
My Ex - You left and I had nothing to do, I needed something to do to fill time, I bought a camera to take pictures…the same camera I later shot video with and found out what I wanted to do in life. The song that you are to me is “Good Night Good-bye”
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller - Thanks for making the greatest TV show of all time.
Richard Kelly - Thanks for making the greatest movie of all time.
Every single one of the people who have commented and subscribed to my videos, you are why I make videos, you are who I entertain. The song that you are to me is “Boys and Girls”
